One December night, in a bar in Milwaukee, we meet Willie Stokes, a bitter, lonely alcoholic. During the holiday season, he works at a shopping mall dressed as Santa Claus alongside his partner Marcus, a short man who plays the elf. The two have a plan they repeat every year. When the mall closes on Christmas Eve, they disable the security alarm and use the night to steal. The seasonal job thus serves as a cover for something much more lucrative, and Willie drags his routine of drinking and cynicism along as the big day approaches. The film is directed by Terry Zwigoff and stars Billy Bob Thornton, who plays the main character.
