Synopsis of Dead Like Me

Georgia Lass, an eighteen-year-old girl, is also the series' narrator. Distant and emotionally detached from her life and family, she suddenly finds herself transformed into a reaper, a kind of personified death. Her new job is to remove people's souls, preferably before they die, and escort them to the other side. Alongside a small team of reapers working in Seattle, Washington, led by Rube, Georgia learns to navigate this new existence. Meanwhile, her family tries to come to terms with an unexpected loss at a time when their bonds were already fragile. Created by Bryan Fuller, the series aired on Showtime and stars Ellen Muth and Mandy Patinkin.

«Life for her was boring. Death is anything but.»

Trivia about Dead Like Me

Bryan Fuller left the series five episodes after the start of the first season due to creative differences, and creative leadership passed to John Masius and Stephen Godchaux.

Although the story takes place in Seattle, filming took place in Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

La-La Land Records released the original soundtrack composed by Stewart Copeland in 2010, in a limited edition of 3000 units.

The series premiere drew 1.11 million viewers, a record for a Showtime premiere that stood until Shameless surpassed it seven years later.

Executives told a journalist that the audience was three times Showtime's prime-time average, but the network said that was not enough for a third season.

The spin-off movie Dead Like Me: Life After Death replaced Mandy Patinkin with Henry Ian Cusick, who played Cameron, the new reaper in charge of assigning jobs to the reapers; Laura Harris did not return as Daisy either.

MGM finished filming the spin-off movie in August 2007 and left the door open to producing more films or reviving the series for a new television run, although it had not yet rehired the cast.

Ellen Muth was nominated in 2004 for the Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television for her portrayal of George Lass.
