Synopsis of Mr. Mercedes
In a decaying American city, hundreds of unemployed people spend the night in line outside the employment office, waiting for one of a thousand announced jobs. At dawn, a Mercedes emerges from the fog and plows into the crowd. The driver flees, leaving a trail of victims. Months later, retired detective Bill Hodges, played by Brendan Gleeson, is still obsessed with the unsolved case when he receives a letter from an anonymous sender who confesses to the crime. The sender is Brady Hartsfield, played by Harry Treadaway, who lives with his alcoholic mother in the house where he was born and wants to recapture the thrill he felt that morning. Created by David E. Kelley for Audience, the series pits a retired cop who can't let go against a killer who has no intention of stopping the game.
