In 1951, Eddie Mannix is a production executive at Capitol Pictures, one of the great Hollywood studios. His job is to be a "fixer": he covers up the scandals of the studio's stars and keeps them out of the press. Every day he has to dodge the twin gossip columnists Thora and Thessaly Thacker, who chase any story that could compromise the studio. Meanwhile, Lockheed Corporation offers him a high-level position with a very generous salary, but Mannix isn't sure whether he should accept. Between shoots, pressures, and favors he owes, he will have to decide whether he wants to keep putting out fires in a world that never stops starting them. The film is directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and stars Josh Brolin as Mannix.

Would that it were so simple?
Director: Squint against the grandeur!
Here at Capitol Pictures, as you know, an army of technicians, actors, and top notch artistic people are working hard to bring to the screen the story of the Christ. It's a swell story.
Carlotta Valdez: It's all in the hips, the lips, and the eyes and the thighs.
