Synopsis of The Agency

Brandon Colby, known in the CIA as "Martian," is an undercover agent who spent six years operating in Africa. His mission ends abruptly, and the agency orders him to leave that life behind and return to the London station. There, Samia "Sami" Zahir, a Sudanese anthropologist and his former love, unexpectedly reappears. Between them, a relationship is rekindled that puts their careers, their real identities and the mission entrusted to them to the test. Soon they find themselves trapped in a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage. The series, created by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, airs on Paramount+ with Showtime and stars Michael Fassbender.

Trivia about The Agency

The plot of its first two seasons closely follows that of The Bureau, the French series on which it is based.
Filming in London included brutalist buildings such as the Barbican Estate, which capture the series' dark atmosphere.
In addition to London, filming took place in Tallinn, Estonia, in September 2024, and in Cairo, Egypt, in October of that same year.
In January 2025, Michael Fassbender was nominated for Best Actor in a Drama at the Irish Film and Television Awards.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season earned a 68% approval rating, with an average score of 6.1/10 based on 40 reviews.
In June 2025, it was announced that the second season would change its title to The Agency: Central Intelligence.
The series was initially announced under the working title "The Department" before adopting "The Agency"; Michael Fassbender is also credited as an executive producer.
The second season added five new cast members and began filming in London with Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Jodie Turner-Smith.
