Synopsis of Slasher

Sarah Bennett returns with her husband, Dylan, to Waterbury, the small Canadian town where she was born. They move into the house once owned by her parents, who were murdered there on Halloween night in 1988, when she was still a newborn. Sarah wants to understand what happened that night, but the town begins suffering a series of crimes that seem to be the work of a copycat of The Executioner, the killer who terrorized Waterbury. To find answers, Sarah visits Tom Winston, the original Executioner, in prison. Created by Aaron Martin, the series airs on Chiller and Super Channel and stars Katie McGrath.

Trivia about Slasher

Aaron Martin has cited Halloween and It Follows as influences for the use of a mysterious entity responsible for a series of murders.

Filming of the first season was handled like a big-budget movie, shooting scenes from several episodes at the same time depending on the availability of locations and actors.

Chiller joined the production shortly after Super Channel, and Slasher was its first and only foray into original scripted series.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has a 80% approval rating with an average score of 5/10 based on 5 reviews.

In April 2020, Netflix removed all three seasons of the series without warning, and they returned to its catalog at the end of June that same year.

Filming of the second season began on May 1, 2017 in Orangeville, Ontario.

The series was renewed for a fourth season for Shudder, which premiered on August 12, 2021, and was followed by a fifth and final season, which premiered on April 6, 2023.

Aaron Martin stepped down as showrunner during the third season, while Ian Carpenter took over that role and also became an executive producer.
