Love makes monsters of us all.

In 1887, Edith Cushing is a young woman who aspires to be a writer. She is the daughter of wealthy American businessman Carter Cushing, played by Jim Beaver, and lives in New York State. One night, the ghost of her mother appears in her room. It is a dark, disfigured figure that leaves her a warning: to be careful of Crimson Peak. Edith doesn't understand what it means, and the visit leaves her unsettled. The film, directed by Guillermo del Toro, follows this heroine, played by Mia Wasikowska, in a ghost story and gothic romance that begins with that apparition.

Trivia about Crimson Peak

Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Stone were the first choices to star in the film, but both left the project before filming. Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska took over their roles.
In October 2013, Jessica Chastain underwent a full-body casting process for the film and posted photos on his Facebook of his molded head, torso, and fists.
In July 2015, John Murdy, creative director of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, announced that the film would be turned into a maze for the 2015 season.
The film's trailer features a version of "Red Right Hand" by PJ Harvey.
