Synopsis of Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia

Jim Lake Junior is a fifteen-year-old boy who lives in Arcadia, a quiet suburban town where almost nobody believes the rumors about trolls. One day he finds a mysterious amulet that makes him the first human Trollhunter, a warrior chosen to protect the trolls living in Trollmarket, a hidden market beneath the town. His enemies are the gumgumns, man-eating trolls who want to escape the Darklands and conquer the surface world. Jim must balance his classes with nighttime battles while trying to keep anyone from discovering his double life. Created by Guillermo del Toro for Netflix, the series sets up a clash between a teenager's everyday routine and a threat lurking in the dark.

Trivia about Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia

Del Toro first considered a live-action television series, but the budget made the project unfeasible and the idea ended up as a book.
In one of del Toro's notebooks, the series' first sketch drew Blinky with the name Kelsey Grammer beside the character, who accepted the role once the series got the green light.
In 2017, the series won six Daytime Emmy Awards, more than any other television program, animated or live-action, that year.
Screenwriters Kevin and Dan Hageman stated in January 2017 that the series was Netflix's most successful original program to date aimed at a younger audience.
The first season has a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 16 reviews.
After the death of Anton Yelchin in 2016, the series' third part combined his voice with that of Emile Hirsch to keep the character of Jim Lake Jr. alive.
The franchise continued with the spin-off series 3Below: Tales of Arcadia and Wizards: Tales of Arcadia, before concluding in 2021 with the film Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
The production of Rise of the Titans had to move artists from around the world to remote work during the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
