Synopsis of Wizards: Tales of Arcadia

Trivia about Wizards: Tales of Arcadia

The series won an Annie Award and a Kidscreen Award for Best New Series, a category that included both live-action and animated shows that year.

It received four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Preschool Children), and won the award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for a daytime animated program.

Its premiere was scheduled for 2019, but it was postponed until August 7, 2020.

Del Toro says the series ranked among Netflix's top ten most-watched shows worldwide in its premiere week, ahead of all other live-action and animated content.

Rafael Motamayor of The Observer praised its bold deconstruction of the Arthurian myth, which tackles themes such as prejudice, ideological warfare and racism.

"Wizards: Tales of Arcadia" was originally conceived as a live-action film, but budget constraints led the project to become a novel first and then a trilogy of animated series.

The series is the third and final installment of the Arcadia Tales; its executive producers described its premiere as the close of the trilogy, although they noted that video games based on other installments could be developed.

David Bradley won the Annie Award for Outstanding Voice Acting in a Television or Media Production for his work as Merlin in the episode "Our Final Act."
