Synopsis of Boy Meets World

Cory Matthews is a witty eleven-year-old boy who goes to school in Philadelphia. He says what he thinks, is passionate about sports and often ends up in trouble in class. His sixth-grade teacher is also his neighbor, George Feeny, with whom he has a love-hate relationship that shapes much of his days. At home, living with his older brother, Eric, who is fifteen, starts to become complicated. Eric becomes obsessed with dating girls, a concept that Cory finds strange, and the time the two once shared slowly fades away. Created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, the series airs on ABC and revolves around the tension between Cory's childhood world and his brother's new priorities.

«His older brother likes girls. His younger sister likes dolls. His parents like rules. And he'd like to know where he fits in.»

Trivia about Boy Meets World

The network executives removed the Shakespeare references from the pilot, considering them too mature for audiences, and Jacobs rewrote the pilot overnight.

During development, the series was known as The Ben Savage Project, because Ben Savage was already signed with ABC at age 11.

William Daniels initially turned down the role due to apprehension about acting in a sitcom and asked for the pilot to be rewritten.

Trina McGee-Davis said young fans reacted overwhelmingly positively and supportively to the show's interracial relationship, which was rare for the time.

It was described as the 2 best children's series on prime-time television.

In 2017, the series came to Hulu alongside other Disney and ABC titles, and in 2019 it was confirmed that Disney+ would stream it.

Savage and Fishel reprised their roles in the spin-off Girl Meets World, which aired on Disney Channel between 2014 and 2017.

Danielle Fishel was not originally cast as Topanga. After replacing the actress who had been hired during the filming of the pilot, she had only a few minutes to audition again and land the role.
