Synopsis of How I Met Your Mother

Year 2030. Architect Ted Mosby tells his two teenage children how he met their mother. His story flashes back to 2005, when Ted is 27 years old and living in New York. His best friend Marshall Eriksen, a law student, decides to propose to Lily Aldrin, a kindergarten teacher he has been dating for almost nine years. That announcement drives Ted, a hopeless bachelor, to finally set out to find the love of his life. To do it, he gets help from Barney Stinson, the group's other close friend, a womanizer with highly unconventional methods. Created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, the sitcom airs on CBS and stars Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders.

Trivia about How I Met Your Mother

Craig Thomas's wife, Rebecca, objected to the series including a character based on her, and agreed only if Alyson Hannigan played the role.
In 2007, Thomas said that filming in front of a live audience would be impossible, because it would "blur the line between 'audience' and 'hostage situation'".
Britney Spears plays receptionist Abby in Ten Sessions, an episode that drew an audience of 10,630,000 people in the U.S.
The series' opening credits feature a twelve-second excerpt from "Hey Beautiful" by The Solids, the band in which Bays and Thomas are members.
Production was halted during the 2007–2008 writers' strike and resumed with nine new episodes after the strike ended.
Lifetime Television bought the rerun rights for about 725,000 dollars per episode, as announced in September 2008.
In 2012, seven years after its premiere, the series won the People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Comedy.
Cristin Milioti did her camera test with fake script pages, and Neil Patrick Harris discovered during the process that she was up for the role of the mother, although she had not yet been hired.
