Synopsis of The Baby-Sitters Club

Five high school students from Stoneybrook, a small town in Connecticut, launch a babysitting agency. Kristy, the group's president, gathers her friends in Claudia Kishi's bedroom, which serves as headquarters, to organize jobs and divide up the tasks. Stacey, Mary Anne and Dawn, who has just arrived from Los Angeles, round out the team with very different personalities and their own worries. The girls must earn the trust of the neighborhood families while trying to make the business work and keep their friendship intact under pressure. Rachel Shukert created the series based on the novels by Ann M. Martin, and it streams on Netflix.

Trivia about The Baby-Sitters Club

Netflix canceled the series in March 2022 after two seasons. The second season, with eight episodes, did not make Nielsen's weekly top 10 and appeared on Netflix's top 10 for only one week, at No. 9.

Rachel Shukert said that season one viewership met and even exceeded Netflix's expectations.

Costume designer Cynthia Ann Summers slipped a nod to Clueless into Claudia's yellow plaid pantsuit.

Since filming took place in Canada, 80 percent of the show's fashion wardrobe was bought at Simons in Vancouver.

The season one premiere was scheduled for May 2020, but it was pushed back to July due to dubbing issues with the international lineup.

Kyndra Sánchez joined the cast as Dawn Schafer replacing Xochitl Gomez, due to scheduling conflicts with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Alicia Silverstone agreed to play Elizabeth Thomas without having read Ann M. Martin's original books first.

The series won the Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding Achievement in Youth Programming in 2021; Sophie Grace also earned a Daytime Emmy for her performance.
