Synopsis of Anne with an E
In 1896, siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, now older and unmarried, decide to adopt an orphan boy to help them at Green Gables, their family farm on the outskirts of Avonlea, on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Matthew goes to the station to pick up the boy and meets Anne Shirley, a 13-year-old girl who is imaginative, bright, lively and very talkative. Anne was orphaned as a baby and has spent her childhood as an abused servant in various households. While Matthew is inclined to keep her, Marilla distrusts her because of her unknown background and because she considers her not very useful on the farm. When Marilla cannot find a brooch, the suspicion seems confirmed, and the siblings decide to return her to the orphanage. The series was created by Moira Walley-Beckett and airs on CBC and Netflix.
