Synopsis of Murdoch Mysteries
Toronto, 1895. Detective William Murdoch works for the Toronto Police Department and takes on complex cases that others cannot solve. To do so, he relies on detection methods that were unusual for his time: fingerprint identification, blood analysis, surveillance and evidence tracking. Played by Yannick Bisson, Murdoch seeks to solve every crime by relying on an investigative approach ahead of its time. In some episodes he improvises with available resources, building prototypes of far more modern technologies, which adds an anachronistic touch to the story. The series, created by Maureen Jennings based on the characters from her novels, airs on CBC and Paramount Network.
