Anthony Lemke

Anthony Lemke is not your typical actor who spent childhood in drama schools. In 1995, they were finishing their law degree at McGill University. A future in the courts of Montreal was all but secured. But the acting bug was already there.

They finished law school and were admitted to the bar. It's a fact that often surprises casting directors. That legal training gave them a different mental framework for tackling the most complex scripts in the Canadian industry.

His first big break came in 2000 with the series Queen of Swords. He played Captain Marcus Grisham. It wasn't an easy road. He had to move to Almería for the shoot because the production needed landscapes that could pass for 19th-century California.

And the gamble paid off.

The Weight of Science Fiction

Widespread recognition took time to arrive but came in 2015 with Dark Matter. Over three seasons, they brought Marcus Boone to life. His character was a mercenary with a dark past and enviable technical skill. It was the project that proved they could carry the dramatic weight of an international franchise.

But Lemke never wanted to limit himself to the English-language market. Being bilingual, he often worked on French-language productions such as Mirador in 2010 and Mémoires vives in 2013. This linguistic duality is rare, even in Canada.

In 2016, they became actively involved with UNHCR. They didn't do it for public image. They traveled to refugee camps in Jordan and Chad to understand the logistics of human displacement. Their commitment to the refugee cause became a constant presence far from the spotlight.

Expanding His Technical Skills

Starting in 2020, his career shifted toward roles with greater institutional weight on television. In the series The Madame Blanc Mysteries in 2021, he played Inspector Andre Caron. It's a dry, straightforward role.

It's not all TV series. Lemke has voiced characters in big-budget video games such as Watch Dogs in 2014. It's a technical side of the work that demands absolute precision in the recording booth.

In 2023, he joined the English-language cast of Plan B. The film was shot entirely in Montreal under strict safety protocols.

He is a method actor through and through.

Their primary residence remains in the Toronto area. There, they run their independent production projects, far from the major studios of Los Angeles. As of 2024, they keep their schedule closed for shoots lasting no longer than four months.
