Krista Bridges was born in Ontario in the late sixties. Her professional debut came in 1988 with a minor role in the series Check it Out. She didn't have a lucky break that launched her to stardom overnight. She spent years working on the Canadian television circuit before genre films came knocking.
And that is the key to her career.
In the mid-nineties, she appeared in Soft Deceit and The Paper Boy. These were low-budget productions where she learned to move between cameras without frills. In 1998, she shot The Fixer. Bridges has never been an extreme method actress or one known for dramatic physical transformations.
She prefers restraint and understated gestures.
In 2005, George A. Romero cast her in Land of the Dead. She played Motown, a soldier in a world overrun by zombies. The shoot had a budget of 15 million dollars and marked her biggest international exposure up to that point. But she didn't use that momentum to move to Hollywood permanently.
She kept working in Toronto because its production system offered her a stability that California did not. In 2011, she appeared in the film Faces in the Crowd alongside Milla Jovovich. Its box office result was modest, but her performance received solid professional reviews.
Because Bridges is an actress who delivers what's asked of her.
In 2013, she joined the cast of Hannibal. Her role as Jocelyn Turner placed her in one of the most visually refined dramas of the decade. She worked under the direction of Bryan Fuller for several episodes. That experience opened the door to big-budget science fiction productions.
In 2017, she signed on to The Expanse to bring Sandrine Cass to life. The series was shot mainly at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Bridges played a Martian Navy captain with a technical coolness that suited the tone of the show. Her pay on productions like this usually runs around five figures per episode.
And the pace didn't slow down in the years that followed.
In 2021, she appeared in the series The Astronauts, and a year later she shot The Kids in the Hall. She isn't looking for top billing. She's comfortable in supporting roles that hold the main plot together. As a result, her name appears in the credits of nearly every major production shot on Canadian soil.
In 2023, she joined the cast of The Way Home as Delia. The Hallmark Channel series confirmed a third season in 2024. Filming for the new episodes began in Ontario that summer. Bridges turned 56 while shooting exterior scenes in Scarborough.
The series production runs a twelve-hour daily shooting schedule.
