What Season 1 of Anne with an E

In 1896, siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, both older and never married, decide to adopt an orphan to help them on Green Gables, their farm in Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. Matthew picks up Anne Shirley at the train station, a thirteen-year-old girl who is imaginative, talkative and full of life, and who has been mistreated as a servant in several homes. While he wants to keep her, Marilla is wary of her background and of how useful she might be on the farm. The season follows how Anne's arrival shakes up Avonlea and everyone around her, starting with the two siblings who take her in.
