Synopsis of Heartstopper

Heartstopper is a British teen drama and romance series created and written by Alice Oseman for Netflix. Charlie Spring is an openly gay student who, in a new class group, ends up sitting next to Nick Nelson, a rugby player with a big heart. They are two completely different boys, but that doesn't stop them from being drawn to each other. Their friendship at Truham Grammar School starts to turn into something more as both try to navigate school demands and their own feelings. Joe Locke and Kit Connor play Charlie and Nick, and around them moves a group of friends who also have their own stories.

Trivia about Heartstopper

Oseman created the original character Imogen Heaney because she wanted Nick to have a friend outside the rugby group.

For the bowling alley scene, the director of photography used pink and blue neon lights from the venue, inspired by the colors of the bisexual pride flag.

Principal photography for the first season lasted 54 days in 2021, with the school scenes filmed in Slough.

In its first partial week, the first season entered Netflix's global weekly English TV Top 10 at No. 7 with 14.55 million hours viewed.

Heartstopper received 17 nominations at the Children's and Family Emmy Awards and won seven of them.

British singer Baby Queen wrote "Colours of You" for the series, and her music appears in the first two seasons.

Netflix announced that Heartstopper would not get a fourth season and would conclude with a movie written by Alice Oseman, based on the sixth volume of the graphic novel, with no release date announced yet.

Jonathan Bailey, Hayley Atwell and Eddie Marsan joined the third season as Jack Maddox, Diane, Nick's aunt, and Geoff, Charlie's therapist, respectively.
