Synopsis of Desperate Housewives

Wisteria Lane is a residential street in Fairview, a fictional town in the equally fictional state of Eagle State, where everything seems to be in order. It is home to Susan Mayer, Lynette Scavo, Bree Van de Kamp and Gabrielle Solis, four housewives whose domestic routines intertwine with those of their husbands, friends and neighbors. Bree tries to save her marriage, while Lynette struggles to find the time and energy to look after her children. Susan, meanwhile, competes with the promiscuous Edie Britt for a man's affection. An unexpected event in the first episode shakes the neighborhood and stirs the curiosity of its residents. Created by Marc Cherry and aired on ABC, the series blends drama, comedy and mystery to reveal what lies behind the doors of these homes.

Trivia about Desperate Housewives

The idea came about while Marc Cherry and his mother were watching a news report about Andrea Yates, a woman who drowned her five children in the bathtub.
Cherry pitched the series to HBO, CBS, NBC, Fox, Showtime and Lifetime, and none of them accepted it until two ABC executives gave it the green light.
The ABC executives suggested Wisteria Lane or Secret Lives of Housewives as alternative titles.
The Wisteria Lane set was built on the backlot of Universal Studios Hollywood, where the crews called it Colonial Street.
Danny Elfman composed the theme song, which won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music in 2005 and a BMI TV Music Award.
The pilot episode drew 21.3 million viewers, making it the best drama premiere of the year and the most-watched show of the week.
A line from the episode "Now You Know," the first of the fourth season, led the government of the Philippines to demand an apology from the producers.
The background music is electronic, but every recording session includes a live string ensemble.
