Father and son together in hell

John McClane, the detective played by Bruce Willis, receives an unexpected piece of news: his son Jack, whom he hasn't spoken to in years and whose whereabouts he didn't know, has been arrested in Russia for murder. Trivia about A Good Day to Die Hard

The film was originally titled Die Hard 24/7, a name that fueled press speculation about a crossover with the 24 series. The studio never confirmed it.

In July 2012, a fire broke out on set while an aerial stunt was being filmed. No one was injured, and filming resumed after a brief delay.

Marco Beltrami had only six weeks to write the score. He composed about 120 minutes of music, of which 80 made it into the final film.

To earn a 12A rating in the UK, a version was prepared with cuts for language and violence at the request of the distributors.

Bruce Willis retired from acting in March 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, which makes this the last film in the series.

Budapest replaced Moscow as the main location because the production chose Hungary over several options offering tax incentives. The crew first made a twenty-day scouting trip, including three days in Moscow.

The car chase through Moscow took 78 days to film, according to John Moore, who also confirmed that the scenes were shot in Hungary.

The film earned $304,654,182 worldwide on a budget of $92 million; in North America it made $67,349,198, and in other territories, $237,304,984.
