Synopsis of Raising Hope

James "Jimmy" Chance is 23 years old and lives in Natesville, a fictional city in California. After a one-night stand with a stranger, he discovers he is the father of a little girl named Hope and gains custody of her. Jimmy knows nothing about babies, so he will have to raise her with the help of his family, who are as unconventional as they are well-meaning. His parents, Virginia and Burt, had Jimmy when they were teenagers and don't seem eager to repeat the experience. The series explores how an inexperienced young man tries to be a good father in a humble and chaotic setting. Created by Greg Garcia and aired on Fox, the comedy stars Lucas Neff as Jimmy.

Trivia about Raising Hope

In June 2009, Fox announced a pilot commitment with Greg Garcia, the show's creator, before the project was given the green light for a full season.

Actress Olesya Rulin was initially cast as Sabrina, but in March 2010 Fox replaced her with Shannon Woodward.

Cloris Leachman was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, an award she had already won three times.

People Weekly's review, written by Tom Gliatto, called it the best new comedy of the season and compared it to Malcolm in the Middle.

Greg Garcia left Hope to work on CBS's The Millers.

Seasons three and four earned a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with 6 reviews for season three and 8 for season four.

The pilot was shot in December 2009, and during development the role of Jimmy's cousin was also reworked: Kate Micucci took on the role of Shelley, while Skyler Stone took over the male character Mike.

Fox canceled the show on March 10, 2014 after four seasons and scheduled a special one-hour finale, made up of two back-to-back episodes, for April 4.
