Noah Jupe was born in Islington in 2005 into a home where movies were part of everyday life. His father, Chris Jupe, worked in production, and his mother, Katy Cavanagh, spent her days on British television sets. It was only a matter of time before the boy ended up in front of a camera, but no one expected his gaze to hold the frame better than many industry veterans.
His early steps were modest, in series such as Penny Dreadful and The Night Manager during the year 2016. These were small roles where Jupe learned the craft of observation. But the American industry has a special radar for faces that convey vulnerability without falling into sentimental excess. George Clooney saw it clearly and cast him in Suburbicon in 2017.
That shoot was a trial by fire, as he had to share scenes of extreme tension with Julianne Moore and Matt Damon. But the kid didn't flinch in front of the stars. Clooney said Jupe was the best child actor he had ever worked with, and that opened the doors to major psychological horror productions for him.
And then came absolute silence.
In 2018, the world got to know him as Marcus Abbott in A Quiet Place. John Krasinski's film demanded a performance based almost entirely on body language and the restraint of fear. Jupe made the audience feel every one of his held breaths while a monster lurked in the basement. That production grossed more than 340 million dollars worldwide.
Unlike other young actors chasing quick fame in superhero franchises, Jupe chose the path of auteur cinema. In 2019, he starred in Honey Boy under the direction of Alma Har’el. The shoot was complex because the script by Shia LaBeouf explored the childhood traumas of the writer himself, and Jupe had to play a younger version of the actor.
His ability to handle emotional pain on screen earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Awards that year. It was the moment critics stopped treating him as a promise and began to see him as an actor with solid technique. But he chose to return to London to keep his everyday life going between international shoots.
The gamble paid off.
In 2020, he returned to the world of silence with A Quiet Place Part II. The sequel had to delay its release because of the global health crisis, but when it reached theaters it confirmed that his character was the emotional core of the story. That same year, he made the leap to prestige television with The Undoing on HBO alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant.
Playing the son of a New York high-society family caught up in a murder required constant ambiguity. Jupe handled his character's mystery with a coldness that unsettled the audience right up to the final episode. Because Noah knows that in film, what is left unsaid often matters more than the dialogue.
During 2022, he took part in the film Dreamin’ Wild, playing a young musician in a true story about late success and family bonds. The shoot focused on capturing sonic authenticity, and Jupe had to work closely with Casey Affleck to coordinate his performances across different timelines.
But his most ambitious production project came in 2024 with the series Franklin. In this Apple TV+ production, he plays Temple Franklin, the grandson of Benjamin Franklin, played by Michael Douglas. The series was filmed entirely on location in France to recreate the diplomatic mission that sought French support for American independence.
Filming this historical superproduction involved strict period costume design and long days of dialogue in palace settings. Jupe had to learn to move with the social rigidity of the 18th century while keeping the freshness of a young man caught up in the political intrigues of Versailles. The series had a massive budget to recreate the sets of Louis XVI's royal court.
By 2025, his name was already linked to independent production projects where he aims to move definitively away from the young actor label. His transition to adult roles is managed from an office in London that screens every script with almost surgical rigor. He has no interest in constant media exposure or unnecessary red carpets.
Noah Jupe prefers the anonymity of English streets.
His current contracts include strict confidentiality clauses and an image management approach that avoids any scandal on social media. The actor keeps a work routine that prioritizes technical training over digital popularity. His most recent technical collaboration in 2024 included high-precision voice recording sessions for sound post-production at Pinewood Studios.
