Synopsis of Bloodline

The Rayburns are one of the best-known families in Islamorada, in the Florida Keys, where they run a seaside inn. When Danny, the eldest son and black sheep of the family, returns to celebrate the 45th anniversary of his parents Robert and Sally's business, tensions rise at home. John, a sheriff's department detective; Kevin, the owner of a marina; and Meg, a lawyer, fear that Danny's return will expose a past everyone would rather keep hidden. As the dedication of a pier in honor of their parents approaches, the siblings must decide how far they are willing to go to protect the family. Created by Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman, the series airs on Netflix and stars Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn.

Trivia about Bloodline

The deal with Sony Pictures Television was the first major contract Netflix signed with a film studio for a television series.

Ben Mendelsohn was the only actor the producers met with for the role of Danny Rayburn, and his mix of intelligence and acting talent was a perfect fit.

The series premiered in the Berlinale Special Galas section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival before arriving on Netflix in full.

The high production cost is cited as one of the reasons for the cancellation, despite strong reviews and award nominations.

The first season was shot over six months in 2014 in the Florida Keys, where the production spent more than $20 million across the Keys and southern part of the state.

Ben Mendelsohn won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2016 for his work on the show.

Netflix renewed the series for a second season just three days after its premiere, but later cut the third season from 13 to 10 episodes and made it the last.
