Synopsis of Twin Peaks

FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper, played by Kyle MacLachlan, arrives in Twin Peaks, a small fictional town in northwest Washington. His mission is to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer, a popular and respected high school student whose body is found wrapped in plastic on a riverbank. Together with Sheriff Harry S. Truman, played by Michael Ontkean, Cooper begins questioning the townspeople. He wants to find the killer, but he soon discovers that many residents are hiding secrets. Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the series aired on ABC and blends police mystery with a strange, melodramatic tone.

Trivia about Twin Peaks

Iger proposed showing the pilot to a younger, more diverse group, which approved it. ABC then bought seven episodes for $1.1 million each.
The network's standards and practices executives wanted to shorten the scene in which Cooper uses tweezers to pull a tiny "R" from under Laura's fingernail. Frost and Lynch refused, and the scene was kept.
During the filming of the scene in which Cooper examines Laura's body for the first time, a broken fluorescent light kept flickering. Lynch decided not to replace it because he liked the unsettling effect.
Isabella Rossellini, who had worked with Lynch on Blue Velvet, was set to play Giovanna Packard but left the project before the pilot was shot.
Lynch planned to cast a local girl from Seattle to play Laura Palmer, for budget reasons and, reportedly, only to play a dead girl.
Badalamenti and Lynch composed the series' main theme in 20 minutes, which Badalamenti titled "Love Theme from Twin Peaks."
The pilot was the highest-rated program of the 1989-90 season, with a 22 rating, and 33% of the audience watched it.
Set decorator Frank Silva was chosen to play the mysterious "Bob," even though he had initially only been filmed moving furniture on the bedroom set.
