The Kid Who Scared Hollywood

Pierce Gagnon was five years old when he showed up on the set of The Crazies in 2010. He wasn't the typical commercial kid with a rehearsed smile. He had a gaze that unsettled adults, and that helped Rian Johnson notice him shortly after.

It was the start of an unstoppable streak.

In 2012 he shot Looper. He played Cid, a kid with telekinetic powers who could blow a man apart with a single scream. He shared scenes with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt without a flicker of nerves. Johnson went so far as to say he was the best actor he had ever worked with, the kind of comment that stays with you for life.

But the industry isn't always kind to child prodigies. Many burn out before they turn fifteen. Gagnon preferred to space out his appearances and choose projects with solid scripts.

Androids and the World of Lynch

In 2014 he moved to television with Extant. For two seasons he played an android son of Halle Berry. It was a cold, technical role, and he carried it off with a maturity unusual for his age.

Lynch kept him in a state of constant bewilderment.

It happened in 2017 when he took part in the return of Twin Peaks. He played Sonny Jim Jones, Dougie Jones's son. His scenes were strange and minimalist. He had barely any dialogue, but his physical presence was vital to the series' surreal tone.

Before turning twelve, he had already worked with directors other actors chase for decades. But physical growth forces a change of direction. Roles as an unsettling child stop working once adolescence arrives.

A Refuge in Dubbing

In 2018 he decided to try his luck with voice work. He starred in The Boss Baby: Back in Business, an animated series that ran until 2020. Studio work let him keep working without the constant pressure of the spotlight.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2020 he voiced the young Fred Jones in the film Scoob!. It was a big-budget Warner Bros. project that aimed to revive the Scooby-Doo franchise. It was one of his last jobs before he entered a phase of greater professional discretion.

Gagnon signed with the talent agency WME after the impact of his first roles. The representation firm keeps his profile active in the voice-over market for animation since 2020.
