Synopsis of What's New, Scooby-Doo?

Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma are a gang of friends who travel to different places to solve mysteries. The story is set in the 21st century, so the characters rely on technology that didn't exist when the classic series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! premiered, although the format of each case still feels familiar. Their goal is to uncover what lies behind strange events that at first seem to be the work of supernatural creatures. The show was created by Sander Schwartz and aired on The WB as part of its children's block, Kids' WB. Frank Welker voices Scooby-Doo and also Fred, while Casey Kasem reprises the role of Shaggy, Grey DeLisle plays Daphne, and Mindy Cohn plays Velma.

Trivia about What's New, Scooby-Doo?

Each season included a holiday special in addition to 13 regular episodes. The first was A Scooby-Doo Christmas (2002), followed by A Scooby-Doo Halloween (2003) and A Scooby-Doo Valentine (2005).
The band Simple Plan performs the theme song, written by Rich Dickerson, and appeared as themselves in the episode "Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman."
The series almost never uses canned laughter. It only appears in the Halloween special, and the classic thunder sound effect of vintage cartoons is barely heard.
Joseph Barbera, co-founder of Hanna-Barbera studios, was credited as executive producer alongside Sander Schwartz. William Hanna, Barbera's partner for many years, had died the previous year.
It is the first Scooby-Doo series produced in 16:9 widescreen format, although it was cropped to 4:3 when broadcast.
Casey Kasem returned to voice Shaggy in 2002, after the production team decided to make him a vegetarian.
Frank Welker took over the voice of Scooby-Doo for the first time in this series, after Marty Grabstein was unable to accept the role due to his commitments to Courage the Cowardly Dog.
