Synopsis of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus

Years after Majin Buu is defeated, Earth enjoys a peace that seems like it will last. That calm is shattered when Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens. Drawn by rumors about the Saiyan who defeated Frieza, he wants to test his strength against Goku in a battle that could wipe out entire planets. Goku and his allies prepare to face him in a fight that threatens to shake the universe. The series retells the story of Dragon Ball Super with a rebuilt narrative, produced by Toei Animation and broadcast by Fuji Television.

The opening theme is «Onogami» performed by Megatera-Zero, and the ending theme, «Kanpeki no Peki», is performed by VK Blanka. The music is once again composed by Norihito Sumitomo, who previously worked on Dragon Ball Super.

The first episode had its worldwide premiere at New York Comic Con, in a panel hosted by Monica Rial, English voice actress for Bulma, with Jason Douglas and Ian Sinclair as guests.

«Dragon Ball Super: Beerus» is an enhanced version of «Dragon Ball Super» that adds many new scenes, redraws shots, and rebuilds the original storytelling.

The project was announced as a production directly linked to Akira Toriyama, credited for the original work, the story, and the character design.

The series will air simultaneously on Fuji TV's national network, with an initial release on Prime Video and U-NEXT thirty minutes after each episode airs on television.

The project was first revealed on the Genkidama Stage Part 2, where Masako Nozawa reacted with excitement and Koichi Yamadera showed their surprise.

A later trailer showed footage of the battle between Goku and Beerus, and also revealed Frieza's return as part of the promotional campaign.
