Synopsis of Dragon Ball DAIMA

Goku, Vegeta, Bulma and the rest of their friends wake up as kids, and Goten and Trunks are turned back into babies. The story takes place after the defeat of Majin Buu and before the arrival of the god of destruction Beerus. Behind this change is a mysterious conspiracy the group must unravel to regain their true forms. Because the threat is new and they don't know where it comes from, the heroes decide to explore an unknown territory: the Demon Realm. Created by Akira Toriyama, the series airs on Fuji TV, and Masako Nozawa returns to voice Goku.

Trivia about Dragon Ball DAIMA

Netflix placed the series in the top 10 across 42 countries, ranking No. 1 in Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Malaysia and Vietnam, and it was also the most-watched kids' series worldwide on the platform.

In its limited theatrical release in the United States, with the first three installments in English dub, the series earned $661,204.

The limited edition Blu-ray reached No. 20 on Oricon's weekly Blu-ray chart, which tracks home video sales.

Toriyama explained that «Daima» is a neologism that can be understood as «Great Evil» or «Demonic» in kanji.

Toriyama acknowledged that the series was originally going to be an anime without his involvement, though he ended up involved in the project without realizing it.

Akio Iyoku, executive producer of the franchise, suggested that «Dragon Ball DAIMA» may belong to its own timeline and not be connected to «Dragon Ball Super», although the series featured Akira Toriyama.

«Dragon Ball DAIMA» was nominated for Best Animated Series at the 2025 Kids' Choice Awards, but did not win.

Kazuhiko Torishima, former editor-in-chief of «Shōnen Jump», publicly criticized the series in 2025 and called it «trash anime» on his podcast.
