Amanda Righetti

Amanda Righetti was born in Utah in 1983, the youngest of eight siblings. Growing up in such a large family instilled a competitive streak that helped her move to Los Angeles at just 18 years old. She started out as a commercial model, but her real goal was always television sets.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2003, she landed the role of Hailey Nichol in The O.C., which was her first taste of mainstream success. She wasn't the star of the show, but her character stirred up the family storylines of the leads. Fox saw in her a safe bet and soon gave her more screen time in other productions from the network.

The CBI Office

In 2008, her career took a decisive turn when she joined the cast of The Mentalist. She played agent Grace Van Pelt across six full seasons, for a total of 132 episodes. The role brought her financial stability and a recognizable face in almost every country where the series aired.

But the pace of cable television is exhausting. Righetti balanced police procedurals with genre films to avoid being typecast. In 2009, she starred in the new version of Friday the 13th, and the film grossed 92 million dollars worldwide. That confirmed her as an actress who could draw young audiences to movie theaters.

Sometimes the biggest projects go unnoticed on a résumé when the role is small. In 2011, she appeared briefly in Captain America: The First Avenger as a SHIELD agent. It was a technical experience that gave her an inside look at how the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was managed.

She decided she didn't want to be just a studio employee.

Directing and Maturity

She founded Bliss Creative Enterprise to have control over the stories she wanted to tell. This producing work has allowed her to stay active without waiting for the phone to ring. In 2017, she returned to television with the science fiction series Colony alongside Josh Holloway.

Because the entertainment market has changed and she understood that quickly. In 2021, she produced and starred in Christmas at the Ranch, a family-focused film that is widely consumed on digital platforms. It is a business model that is less glamorous than major awards but far more profitable in the long run.

In 2024, she took part in the biographical feature Reagan, playing Nelle Reagan. The film had a budget of 25 million dollars and marked her return to major historical productions after several years focused on independent projects. The movie was filmed mainly on location in Oklahoma.
