Alperen Duymaz had no interest in the spotlight of Istanbul when he began studying music at the Hacettepe University conservatory in Ankara. His original plan centered on notes and rhythm, but the camera crossed his path before he finished his degree. In 2015, he made his television debut in Tatlı Küçük Yalancılar, and Turkish audiences took note of his name right away.
The industry was looking for new faces.
His looks opened doors in commercial modeling before he made the definitive leap into big-budget fiction. But Duymaz wanted to move away from the static leading-man label that production companies tend to impose in early contracts. In Acı Aşk, also shot in 2015, he began to shape the dry, restrained style that defines his screen presence.
In 2016, Bodrum Masalı arrived, bringing with it a media spotlight that the actor handled with a certain distance. Playing Ateş forced him to move and to understand the daily shooting rhythms in Turkey. Seven workdays a week for months sharpened his acting technique alongside a veteran crew.
Then came the role that changed how specialized critics saw him. In 2018, he joined the cast of Çukur to bring Emrah to life, a police commissioner with a rather questionable sense of morality. He was not the lead, but his ability to steal scenes was evident from the very first episode.
The risk of being typecast disappeared.
Because Duymaz prefers complex characters to the flat heroes of classic novels, his role in Çarpışma during 2018 and 2019 was a real test, as he shared scenes with Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ. Playing Kerem Korkmaz required a physical vulnerability the actor had not yet explored at that point in the shoot.
In 2021, he took on the challenge of Son Yaz, playing Akgün Gökalp Taşkın. This character, the son of a mobster, let him play with sarcasm and family drama in a much more mature tone. The series earned notable ratings on the international market before its final cancellation after two seasons.
The gamble paid off.
But his move into streaming film came with Kül, released in 2024 on Netflix. In this movie he plays Metin Ali, a carpenter caught up in a mystery and literary obsession plot. The shoot was carried out under strict confidentiality measures to protect the plot twists from press leaks.
By late 2024, the actor joined the project Leyla: Hayat…Aşk…Adalet under the direction of Hilal Saral. This Ay Yapım production was scheduled to air on NOW, with a shooting schedule that covered much of the winter. The contract included specific clauses on distribution in foreign markets and the use of his image in digital promotional campaigns.
