Amélie Hoeferle

From the Stages of Munich to Panem

Amélie Hoeferle didn't start out in front of a film camera. Her first discipline was classical ballet, and that physical discipline explains much of her body language on screen. In 2019, she shot the short film The Red Sea, which is where European festival circuits first took notice of her name.

The German film industry is often a comfortable place for local actors, but Hoeferle went after an international breakthrough before turning twenty. In 2022, she landed the role of Vovey Harp in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

That was the moment her face started appearing on billboards around the world.

That shoot in 2023 demanded a restraint that contrasted with her dance training. But the young actress understood that on studio blockbusters, silence can sometimes communicate more than dialogue. Her move into the Anglo-American market was therefore carried out without the glaring missteps that European profiles often make when they land in California.

A Refuge in Genre Cinema

Many actors shy away from horror for fear of being typecast in flat roles. Hoeferle did the opposite. In 2024, she starred in Night Swim under the Blumhouse and Atomic Monster banner. She played Izzy Waller in a story where a family swimming pool becomes a deadly trap.

The film grossed more than $54 million worldwide.

Genre films let her explore physical roles that conventional dramas don't offer. In 2023, she also appeared in The Boogeyman, building a run of projects where psychological tension was the main driver. Hoeferle prefers night shoots and atmospheres filled with practical effects (a rarity in the digital generation).

Tim Burton's Call

Working with cult directors is often the ultimate goal for any European actor in Hollywood. In 2024, she joined the cast of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the much-anticipated sequel, where she shared the screen with Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder.

It's not a lead role, but it's a strategic move.

Being on Burton's radar means entering a very specific aesthetic that suits her sharp features and cold gaze. So her schedule in the following years has filled up with scripts that blend innocence and darkness.

Her contract for the production of 2024 included an exclusivity clause for shoots in the United Kingdom and the United States lasting eighteen months.
