Camila Morrone was born in Los Angeles in 1997, surrounded by scripts and spotlights. Her parents were Argentine models and actors who already knew the ins and outs of the industry. But she took her time finding her own place in front of the camera.
She started out walking runways for luxury brands and posing for international magazine covers. It seemed like a destiny already written. But the runway was only a bridge to something deeper.
Not everyone took her seriously at first.
In 2013, James Franco gave her a break in Bukowski. It was a modest start that hardly hinted at what would come after several years of quiet training. Because Morrone didn't want to be just a pretty face at Hollywood events.
In 2018, the film Never Goin’ Back changed critics' perception at the Sundance Film Festival. She played a teenager trying to escape her precarious reality. It became clear that her gaze carried a rawness rarely seen in models-turned-actresses.
Her true breakthrough came with Mickey and the Bear in 2019. Her role as Mickey Peck demanded complete restraint to portray a toxic relationship with a veteran father. The specialized press began comparing her to the early career of Jennifer Lawrence for her raw naturalness.
And the family name stopped being a media burden.
In 2023, she played Camila Dunne in the series Daisy Jones & The Six. The role earned her an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress. Her character was the emotional anchor of a fictional rock band caught in the chaos of the 1970s.
So her name began to come up in the offices of the major studios.
Her career has been a measured climb, with every step aimed at keeping her away from the noise of gossip magazines. In 2024, her casting in the second season of The Night Manager was announced. She will share the screen with Tom Hiddleston under the direction of Georgi Banks-Davies.
The actress also voiced one of the characters in the animated film Night of the Zoopocalypse in 2024. This job marked a technical shift from her earlier performances in independent dramas.
Filming for her new productions for the BBC and Amazon was scheduled for late 2024 in various locations in London and South America. The contract calls for an eight-month shooting schedule with an estimated budget of 30 million dollars per season.
