Claudia Salas set foot in a university classroom for just one day in their life. They walked into a teacher training class to ease their family's worries about career prospects, arrived late because of an early-morning audition, and never crossed that door again. They preferred the rigor of the Arte 4 school in Madrid, where dramatic training was combined with fencing, guitar and percussion.
For years, she juggled independent rehearsal rooms with low-paying waitressing jobs to pay her rent in Puente de Vallecas. She performed classics such as A Midsummer Night's Dream and made brief TV appearances on Seis hermanas in 2015. It took great physical stamina to string together twelve-hour shifts between cafeteria trays and small-scale stages.
Nobody in the industry knew her yet.
In 2019, Alberto Rodríguez chose her to wade into the mud of The Plague. Playing Escalante in 16th-century Seville required getting truly dirty and holding close-ups without blinking. The role earned her a nomination for Best Breakthrough Actress at the Unión de Actores Awards, drawing the attention of casting directors looking for profiles outside the usual mold.
That same year, she joined the cast of Elite in the second season as Rebeka. Her arrival in the teen drama hit like a jolt, thanks to a street-smart naturalness that cut through the artifice of the private school. Salas stayed with the show until 2022, building millions of international followers while navigating the pitfalls of sudden fame.
But the leap to film required a different kind of risk. In 2022, she made her feature film debut under Carlota Pereda in Piggy, playing one of the village bullies during a sweltering summer in Extremadura. It was an unlikable role, shot under suffocating temperatures and with no concessions to audience empathy.
And the gamble paid off.
At the end of 2022, she landed her signature role as Toni in La ruta, written by Roberto Martín Maiztegui and Borja Soler. She played a young woman trapped in the decline of the Valencian clubbing scene, told in a reverse time journey from the burnout of 1993 back to the original hopefulness of the eighties. Critics praised a visceral performance that ultimately made the series the most relentless generational portrait on Spanish television.
In 2023, she moved to Mexico to star in Las pelotaris 1926. She played Idoia Rekalde, a Basque athlete fighting for her professional independence in a world dominated by men and illegal betting. Learning the technique of cesta punta on the court required months of prior muscle training to avoid stunt doubles in the game sequences.
In 2025, Félix Sabroso cast her in the dark comedy Furia for HBO Max. The creator crafted an ensemble story about women suffocated by precarity, in which Salas played Tina, a cleaning worker facing a stifling moral dilemma. In 2026, she reprised the role in the second season of the series, going head-to-head with Maribel Verdú in a tense showdown.
That same year, 2026 shared the bill with Luis Tosar in the action drama Salvador, directed by Daniel Calparsoro from a script by Aitor Gabilondo. Salas played Julia, a key member of a radical urban faction clashing with the police.
Filming on Salvador wrapped in Madrid after forty-five nights of shooting and a production consumption of over three hundred liters of simulated rain on the asphalt.
