Itzan Escamilla

Itzan Escamilla Guerrero was born in Madrid in 1997. His parents already knew the business, as they worked in production and design. He trained at the Cristina Rota School. In 2016, he landed his first role in Seis hermanas for public television.

Theater gave him the foundation he needed.

In 2017, he joined the cast of Los universos paralelos. He performed at the Teatro Español alongside Malena Alterio and Belén Cuesta. That David Lindsay-Abaire play was his entrance exam into the professional industry.

The Uniform Phenomenon

In 2018, Netflix premiered Élite. Itzan played Samuel García for five seasons. His face appeared on billboards in Seoul, Mexico City and Paris. The series reached 20 million households during its first month on air.

And the gamble paid off.

But massive exposure forced the actor to deal with a fame he didn't always seek. In 2020, he tried to step away from the media spotlight with personal projects. He founded the clothing brand Koppen with several partners.

It wasn't all red carpets.

The textile company shut down shortly afterward. The actor preferred to focus on acting purely. In 2021, he filmed his final scenes at the Las Encinas high school. He wanted to try his luck outside Spain.

Filming Across Two Continents

Because the market was no longer just national. In 2022, he traveled to Mexico to shoot Travesuras de la niña mala. The series is based on the novel by Mario Vargas Llosa. It was his first major project for the Vix platform.

In 2024, he took part in Midnight Family. The Apple TV+ production was filmed in Mexico City with an international crew. Itzan shared scenes with Joaquín Cosío and Renata Vaca.

Madrid is still his home base.

In 2024, he finished filming Plan de choque. It is a thriller directed by Gorka Merchán, shot on location in Madrid and its surroundings. The production had a budget of 4.3 million euros.
