David Chocarro wore the New York Yankees uniform before memorizing his first script.

His time in the minor leagues in the United States shaped a competitive streak that he later brought to film sets. But baseball came to an end, and modeling emerged as a natural bridge to advertising in his native Argentina. Those early years in Buenos Aires taught him that his looks were a working tool, not an end in themselves.

Professional baseball was his first job.

In 2010, he decided the local market was too small for him and moved to Miami to break into Telemundo's machine. His arrival coincided with a period when networks were looking for international talent for big-budget productions. He appeared in Alguien te mira and La casa de al lado (2011), where he played twin brothers with opposite personalities.

That dual role forced him to work obsessively on his body language so that viewers wouldn't lose track of the plot. It was a pure technical exercise that pulled him out of the comfort zone of the traditional leading man. And audiences responded with ratings that placed him at the forefront of the Spanish-language industry.

Physical Risk as a Language

In 2018, David Chocarro made a decision that many considered commercial suicide at the time. He accepted the role of Santito in El Recluso, and to do it, he lost nearly twenty kilos through an extreme physical process. He wore yellowed false teeth and shaved his head to move away from the clean-cut image producers expected of him.

Nobody expected the catalog-perfect blond to end up buried in the mud.

That transformation was the key to breaking into streaming with renewed credibility. In the series, he played a prisoner with mental health struggles and an unwavering loyalty that earned him the respect of critics. The actor understood that to survive in an industry that devours new faces every month, he needed a personal brand built on risk.

After that success, he sought projects that would let him explore dramatic comedy and suspense without losing intensity. In 2020, he starred in 100 días para enamorarnos, playing Emiliano Valdés in a story that blended humor with modern relationship conflicts. The production became one of Netflix's most-watched titles worldwide during the lockdown months.

Maturity in the Age of the Algorithm

In 2023, he took part in Triad alongside Maite Perroni and strengthened his ties with on-demand streaming platforms. Over the years, his approach to acting became more technical and less emotional. Before filming, he analyzes the script's structure to spot his character's turning points and adjust his performance to the needs of the final cut.

And the change worked.

Off camera, he founded his own theater production company in Miami to develop projects independent of the major studios. In 2024, he joined the cast of Juegos interrumpidos and Las hermanas Guerra, productions that embrace rawer storytelling far removed from classic melodrama. His focus now is on the Mexican market and on co-productions that bring together Latin American talent and European capital.

By 2024, the actor had recorded more than seven hundred episodes of high-definition productions for global platforms, and he kept a representation contract that manages his image rights across three different continents.
