Eva Röse was born at Vårby gård in 1973, and her first contact with acting was purely theatrical. Before breaking into film, she attended the Swedish National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Stockholm. In 1997 she played Tove in Adam & Eva. That supporting role gave her an inside look at how the Swedish industry worked.
The comedy Kopps marked a turning point in 2003. She played Jessica under the direction of Josef Fares. The film earned more than $18 million internationally. But her true connection with mass audiences came through the police genre.
In 2008 she accepted the lead role in Maria Wern. She did not know she would film more than twenty installments of this police inspector, based on the novels by Anna Jansson. Filming on the island of Gotland became an annual routine that defined her public image for more than a decade.
And the gamble paid off.
The series was exported to Germany and other European countries with strong viewership figures. Röse decided she did not want to be just a face in front of the camera. So she began getting involved in the scriptwriting and episode development processes to keep her character from falling into the clichés of the Nordic genre.
Television was not enough.
In 2019 she took a step into executive producing with Heder. The series grew out of her own idea, together with three other Swedish actresses. They wanted to address feminist justice and the law from a raw perspective. The production reached four full seasons and was sold to multiple global streaming platforms.
Her social commitment is not a publicity add-on. In 2007 she was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She has traveled to conflict zones and humanitarian crises to give a voice to school education projects. On set, however, she maintains a technical discipline that her co-stars often highlight in promotional interviews.
In 2022 she took on the challenge of hosting LOL: Last One Laughing Sweden. The format required her to keep complete control over her emotions while a group of comedians tried to make her laugh. The first season was the most-watched content on Prime Video in Sweden during its premiere month.
Röse has also lent her voice to dubbing for major animated productions. In the Swedish version of The Incredibles, she voiced Elastigirl. This technical work requires a precision she values as much as a dramatic performance on the stage of the Dramaten.
In 2024 she took part in the filming of new episodes of Maria Wern directed by Johan Lundin. The production focused on interior locations in Stockholm to reduce the crew's logistical costs. The international distribution deal for these episodes was closed for a figure close to 5 million euros.
