Katrina Bowden

Katrina Bowden arrived on the set of 30 Rock in 2006 at seventeen years old with a contract that barely guaranteed her a place in the pilot. She was not the star of the show. Her role as Cerie was to be Liz Lemon's perpetually distracted assistant, a presence that served as a visual counterpoint to the neurotic chaos of the writers' room.

What started as a supporting role stretched over seven seasons and 138 episodes. Bowden brought a strange naturalness to the stereotype of the pretty girl who is oblivious to everything. And she did it alongside comedy heavyweights such as Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

In 2011, Esquire magazine named her the sexiest woman alive following a public vote.

That media buzz did not always translate into the roles her agency was looking for. In 2010 she starred in Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, a horror comedy that gained traction over the years until it became a cult favorite in the B-movie genre. Still, the industry insisted on typecasting her in fast-consumption cinema.

She took part in American Reunion in 2012 to revive the spirit of the ultimate teen franchise. It was a safe move. The film grossed more than $230 million worldwide, although her character lacked the dramatic weight needed to change the course of her film career.

The Refuge of Daily Television

After the end of her run at NBC, she tried her luck with independent projects and genre films. In 2012 she shot Piranha 3DD, a sequel that spectacularly failed with critics and at the box office. That set back her progress in Hollywood's major leagues for a while.

In 2019, she joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful.

Playing Flo Fulton gave her a stability that film had denied her. She recorded more than 250 episodes until 2021. American soap operas are grinders of actors, but she kept up the daily production pace without losing the favor of the audience that had followed her since her early days.

So moving into wellness content production was a natural way to diversify her income. She keeps a fitness blog that has survived several digital trends, showing that her personal brand works beyond scripted fiction.

Sharks and martial arts

The shift toward physical action films came with Born a Champion in 2021. She shared the screen with Sean Patrick Flanery in a drama about Brazilian jiu-jitsu that demanded a different kind of emotional restraint. That same year she traveled to Australia to shoot Great White.

The conditions on set in the water were brutal. She spent weeks in filming tanks and open sea to bring to life a survivor of a great white shark attack. The film was sold to dozens of international markets, confirming her place in the video-on-demand market and streaming platforms.

In 2023, she joined the cast of Old Dads, the comedy directed by Bill Burr for Netflix.

At the end of 2024, her schedule focused on pre-production for Deadly Games. Shooting for this kind of production usually lasts between three and five weeks, depending on the final budget approved by the insurer.
