Leah Harvey didn't need connections to get into the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. They won a full scholarship that covered their studies through 2016. It was the first sign that their presence in the British industry wasn't a statistical fluke.
Talent tends to be loud, but Harvey prefers precision.
In 2019, they appeared in the film Fighting with My Family directed by Stephen Merchant. That supporting role taught them how a big-budget set works. But the real jump in scale came with high-end television.
Apple TV+ was looking for a face capable of carrying the weight of an entire galaxy in 2021. Harvey took on the role of Salvor Hardin in the adaptation of Foundation. It isn't a simple character, because it requires an almost mechanical coolness in a setting saturated with digital effects.
Filming took place in locations as varied as Iceland and the Canary Islands. Harvey shot most of his scenes in Tenerife over months of intense physical work. And the series confirmed that his face worked just as well in close-ups as in pure action sequences.
The industry no longer knows how to pigeonhole Harvey.
Their non-binary identity brings a layer of honesty to their performances. Harvey has spoken in several interviews about the importance of representation without needing the script to revolve exclusively around that axis. Because in the end, what matters is the strength of the scene.
Guy Ritchie came knocking for the TV version of The Gentlemen in 2024. Harvey plays Henry Collins in a plot where London's organized crime mixes with the most old-fashioned aristocracy. It's a dry register that contrasts with the intensity of the earlier science fiction.
But before that came the challenge of Tuesday in 2023. In this fantasy drama, they share the screen with Julia Louis-Dreyfus under the A24 banner. The film explores complex themes of loss and acceptance through a bold visual narrative.
And the gamble paid off.
Theater remains their real home base. In 2022, they starred in a version of As You Like It at the @sohoplace in London. That Shakespeare production was the first staged at the new theater, and critics praised their ability to handle classical verse with ease.
Harvey earned less than 500 pounds a week in their first stage jobs after leaving drama school. It's a typical figure on the London circuit, the kind that forges the character of any performer before they land the million-dollar streaming contracts.
In 2024, their schedule included international promotion for the second season of Foundation. Filming the new episodes meant relocating a crew of more than two hundred people to Prague.
