Lucien Laviscount started out selling children's clothing. At ten years old, he crossed paths with David Beckham during a photo shoot for Marks & Spencer in 2002, and the soccer star told him he had the face of an actor. That wardrobe comment ended up driving a career built on daily series and plenty of British patience.
Beckham was right.
His path was not meteoric. Between 2007 and 2008, he played Jake Briggs in Grange Hill, one of those endless breeding grounds of UK television. But his real breakthrough came in 2009 with Coronation Street. There he brought Ben Richardson to life across thirty-four episodes.
In 2011, he took part in Celebrity Big Brother and finished in fifth place. Many thought that would be the ceiling for a guy from Burnley. But Laviscount decided to cross the pond in search of roles that didn't depend on his ability to live under constant surveillance in a house.
And the gamble paid off.
Ryan Murphy cast him in Scream Queens in 2015. That role as Earl Grey opened the doors to well-funded American productions. Two years later, in 2017, he led the cast of Snatch, the television adaptation of the film by Guy Ritchie. Laviscount played a boxer and had to undergo physical training that permanently transformed his public image.
Alfie's character in Emily in Paris expanded his global profile in 2021. He came in as a secondary romantic interest and ended up becoming a regular fixture in the storyline. Laviscount has always worked to make sure his looks aren't the only selling point of his resume.
The international market snapped him up right away.
In 2024, he starred in the romantic comedy This Time Next Year alongside Sophie Cookson. British tabloids often list him among the candidates to take over the role of James Bond. Laviscount keeps a low profile as the rumors keep growing and spreading in the specialized press.
His participation in the fourth season of the Netflix series ended with a contract worth several hundred thousand dollars per episode. Filming of his final scenes in 2024 took place under strict security measures at locations in the French Alps.
