Mason Gooding was born in 1996, under the long shadow of a golden statuette that sat in the living room of his home. Many actors with his look would have taken any high school jock role without a second thought. But he chose his projects with a calm far beyond his years. The arrival of the fifth installment of Scream in 2022 posed considerable logistical and physical challenges. Playing Chad Meeks-Martin was not easy, because the character was slated to die in the original script draft. However, his chemistry with the cast and his charisma in the screen tests convinced the directors to change the plot. His character survived seven stab wounds in a narrative decision that surprised the saga's longtime fans.

Maturity Behind the Mask

In 2023, he returned to the franchise with Scream VI, shot entirely on soundstages in Montreal. This time the physical demands were greater due to the action sequences on a New York subway recreated in the studio. Gooding enjoys shooting risky scenes, where the body feels the real wear and tear of the workday. That made his presence in genre films a constant necessity for studios looking for box office reliability.

And the gamble paid off.

During 2024, he joined the cast of Fallout for Prime Video, bringing Thaddeus to life. In this video game adaptation, he had to work with prosthetics and practical effects in harsh weather conditions. The shoot in the dunes of Namibia demanded a stamina that his years playing college soccer had indirectly given him.

In late 2024, he wrapped his involvement in the project Adulthood, directed by Alex Winter. The film was shot in just 24 days on an independent production budget. The final contract was signed under a strict confidentiality clause.
