Miku Ito broke into Japanese voice acting through the back door in 2013. Her first real break came with The Idolmaster Million Live!, and from that moment her name became permanently tied to the entertainment industry in Tokyo.
It was not an easy or immediate path. She spent several years voicing supporting characters in low-profile series until, in 2019, her voice brought Miku Nakano to life in The Quintessential Quintuplets.
That changed everything financially.
But acting was not her only professional goal. In 2016, she signed a contract with Nippon Columbia to launch her solo career, and she performed two-hour concerts entirely on her own on stage. In Japan, the seiyuu figure works as a total package that demands singing and acting with pinpoint precision.
Before recording each session, Ito studies the breathing rhythm of her characters. In the 2020 series Adachi and Shimamura, she used a calmer delivery to convey Shimamura's shyness. And the gamble paid off.
Critics praised her ability to avoid overacting in the most emotionally intense moments.
During 2021 and 2022, her schedule filled up with more than ten productions a year. She worked on Akebi’s Sailor Uniform and held a regular role in the BanG Dream! franchise as Kokoro Tsurumaki. But being the visible face of so many brands brings physical pressure that sometimes leads to vocal cord problems from overworking in recording studios.
In 2023, she voiced Terakomari Gandesblood in The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess. It was a demanding role because of the constant shifts in tone and the verbal aggression the original script called for.
But she prefers technical challenges.
Her discography reached her fourth studio album in 2023 under the title This One’s for You. The album sold thousands of copies in its first week and stayed on the Oricon charts without any major national TV marketing campaign. It also landed three singles in the top 10 best-sellers during that same summer period.
By 2024, her role in Sound! Euphonium 3 as the voice of Mayu Kuroe presented an acting challenge due to the character's psychological complexity. Recording sessions for this anime sometimes lasted up to six hours a day at Kyoto Animation's studios. In total, the actress has surpassed 80 credits in animated productions since her official debut.
