Öznur Serçeler

An actress's training as a flutist on set

Öznur Serçeler spent her teenage years with a concert flute in her hands. She studied at the Mersin University conservatory and years later won a scholarship to Bilkent University to refine her technique at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. The conservatory's academic discipline shaped a work ethic she would later apply to long shoots.

Music was the main plan.

But fate changed in 2011 when she took part in the Elite Model Look competition. That same year she landed her first role in the series Nuri, and the shift in direction became permanent. It was not an easy path, because the Turkish television industry demands a physical stamina that sheet music never teaches. In 2012 she joined the cast of Hayat Devam Ediyor and realized her professional future lay in scripts.

The leap to a European audience

In 2017, she played Fatoş in the series Dolunay. It was a key production for understanding the massive export of Turkish drama to markets such as Spain. But her true international breakthrough came in 2018 with Erkenci Kuş. There she brought Leyla Aydın to life over the 51 episodes the series aired. She managed to balance comedy with a serious tone that served as a necessary counterpoint to the main plot.

And the gamble paid off.

During this period she also explored film with Karışık Kaset in 2014 and the comedy Hayati Tehlike in 2016. Serçeler has always kept a careful distance from the society press and prefers to focus her public appearances on the technical process of building a celebrity. In 2017, she took part in the musical 7 Kocalı Hürmüz, where she brought her full stage training to a live audience.

Breakups and a change of direction in 2024

The year 2022 marked the start of her time on Yalı Çapkını. She played Asuman Korhan and, for two seasons, was one of the most recognizable faces of the show on Star TV. But her relationship with the production company ended abruptly in 2024. She decided to leave the project after failing to reach a satisfactory agreement about the development of her character in the third batch of episodes.

There was no turning back.

After leaving the Korhan mansion in 2024, the actress took a leading role in the series Holding. She plays Itır in the show and shares the screen with veteran actors such as Musa Uzunlar. The production centers on power struggles inside a large corporate conglomerate and moves away from the romantic tone of her earlier work. Filming for the first season began in the last quarter of 2024 under the direction of Deniz Yılmaz.
