Park Joo-hee wasn't looking for the spotlight. She studied film at Konkuk University with the intention of directing her own stories, but ended up in front of the camera almost by accident. In 2009, she made her debut in The Trip and began a period of learning in Korean independent cinema that would last for years.

And the gamble paid off.

The discipline of independent film

In 2014, she starred in The Wicked as an office worker with unsettling behavior. That role earned her recognition at specialized festivals because she avoided the overacting typical of thrillers of the era. She didn't need to scream to be scary.

That look opened the doors of the industry for her.

But her real training came from the more than fifty short films she shot before making the leap to television. In 2016, she appeared in Queen of Walking and showed she could handle comedy with the same dryness she brought to drama. Her technique is based on economy of gestures so as not to undermine the director's intent.

Conquering the small screen

In 2019, her career took a turn with Watcher. As Jo Soo-yeon, a surveillance specialist, she got to work alongside Han Suk-kyu and Seo Kang-joon in one of the most solid series on the OCN network. Park fits perfectly into stories of technical tension and fast-paced dialogue.

Mainstream audiences came later.

The leap to global streaming platforms

In 2021, she played Lee Ji-soo in Happiness. In this story about infected people, her character served as the moral anchor in an apartment building on the verge of collapse. As a result, her name went from a secret among movie buffs to a constant presence on the major streaming platforms.

In 2024, she took part in Goodbye Earth for Netflix, playing Lee Chae-hwan. The production faced several delays in its release schedule, but Park's performance remained one of the highlights of the main cast.

In 2026, she is scheduled to premiere in Filing for Love on the tvN network, where she plays Pyeon Hae-young, an accountant on an audit team. The filming of this series was planned in blocks of twelve episodes to optimize digital post-production costs.
