Sam Page finished his degree in Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University and decided that acting was his true calling. It's not the usual path for a guy from Wisconsin. He moved to Los Angeles to try his luck and soon discovered that his looks opened doors (but his education kept his feet on the ground).
In 2002 he landed the role of Trey Kenyon on the soap opera All My Children. It was his first real experience in the industry and taught him how the daily work rhythm operates on a professional film set.
And the gamble paid off.
Page never shied away from small roles as long as the script made sense. Before becoming a familiar face around the world, he appeared in series such as American Dreams in 2003. There, he began to refine that image of the impeccable man who hides something behind his smile, a persona he would later exploit to great effect.
That first contract at Princeton University gave him an air of intellectualism that casting directors knew how to use for characters with a high level of sophistication.
In 2008, he landed the role that would change his image among the most demanding audiences. He played Greg Harris in Mad Men. His character was Joan Holloway's husband, and he was part of one of the most tense scenes on cable television at the time.
That role let him show he could move beyond the nice-guy image. But television kept calling with classic leading-man parts. In 2010 he joined the cast of Gossip Girl as Colin Forrester, adding another hit to his list of appearances in high-impact visual productions.
Not everything was television.
In 2011 he appeared in the film The Story of Us and kept alternating independent film work with starring roles in prime-time series. The industry saw him as someone capable of carrying any production that needed a charismatic face and flawless technical execution.
Between 2017 and 2021, he played Richard Hunter in The Bold Type. It was five seasons in which the actor explored power dynamics and personal relationships in the world of a fashion magazine in New York. This role gave him a stability that few actors manage to sustain for so long on the small screen.
In 2022 he starred alongside Alyssa Milano in the Netflix film Brazen. The movie was based on a novel by Nora Roberts and gave Page a chance to play with the police thriller genre. It was one of the most-watched titles worldwide in the weeks after its release.
The actor keeps taking on project after project without a break.
In 2023, he joined the cast of Grey's Anatomy to bring Sam Sutton to life. His character first appeared in episode seventeen of season nineteen. The contract was signed for a specific storyline that ended with the character's death after a failed surgery in operating room number one.
