Sirena Gulamgaus entered the Canadian industry without any prior media buzz. In 2017, she played Aisha in the final season of Orphan Black. She was barely ten years old when she shared scenes with Tatiana Maslany, yet her physical presence already suggested a composure unusual for her age.
That first foray into science fiction taught her how a big-budget shoot works. Working on a production of that caliber forces you to learn quickly about camera setups and waiting times. And the result won over local casting directors.
That was just the beginning.
In 2020, Gulamgaus's career took a decisive leap when she joined the main cast of Transplant. She played Amira Hamed for four full seasons. Her role was that of the younger sister of a Syrian refugee doctor in Canada. It was the project that kept her busy until 2024 and where she truly developed her acting technique.
Her on-screen relationship with Hamza Haq was the emotional core of the series. But Gulamgaus avoided easy melodrama. She opted for a dry, realistic performance that conveyed the trauma of displacement without the need for big speeches. Her physical and professional evolution was recorded year after year on the CTV network.
The girl from Orphan Black no longer exists.
In 2021, she combined medical drama with the gothic horror of Chapelwaite. In this adaptation of Stephen King, she played Loa Boone under the direction of Peter and Jason Filardi. The shoot took place in Halifax and demanded a much darker, more somber register than her previous work.
Her image shifted noticeably with her role in Code 8: Part II. In 2024, she played Pavani in the science fiction sequel produced by Robbie and Stephen Amell. The project marked her entry into Netflix's global catalog, with a role that demanded considerable physical effort.
And the gamble paid off.
Her character in this 2024 film is a young woman fleeing a corrupt police force. Filming took place mainly on location in Toronto and Hamilton under the direction of Jeff Chan. The film reached the top viewing charts in more than 50 countries during its first week of release.
Sirena Gulamgaus wrapped up her run on Transplant in February 2024 with the airing of the final episode, titled The Open Road. Her contract covered a total of 49 episodes produced by Sphere Media.
