Gringo, a young man on a luxury vacation in Chile, has spent days failing to pick up any girls. He and his friends want to change their luck, and at a nightclub they meet a group of six young people from different countries. They all decide to get together during their stay in the country and, on one of the excursions, travel to Valparaíso. There, at another nightspot, the party is interrupted when an earthquake shakes the city and throws everyone into chaos. Directed by Nicolás López, the film stars Eli Roth alongside Andrea Osvárt and Ariel Levy.

Trivia about Aftershock

Eli Roth raised 2 million dollars to fund the film thanks to a group of doctors from Buffalo. Distribution rights were presold to recover the budget.

The entire film was shot with a Canon EOS 5D, and López convinced Roth that, with the right lenses and lighting, it would look like 35 mm.

The film was initially rated NC-17 in the United States and had to be re-edited to earn an R rating.

The film earned only 294,696 dollars at the box office and received mixed to negative reviews overall.

Lorenza Izzo was initially cast as the nightclub waitress, but ended up joining the main cast after the crew shot an improvised scene at an Adidas party.

Selena Gomez appears in a cameo that had already been filmed when it was reported that the movie was four weeks into production in Chile.

The movie was shot in Chile, in several of the places hit by the 2010 earthquake that inspired the story.

Before production wrapped, distribution rights to «Aftershock» had already been sold in 17 countries.
