A terrifying nightmare on the road abroad aboard the Horror Express!

Directed by Eugenio Martín, the film is set in 1906 and follows Professor Saxton, played by Christopher Lee, a renowned British anthropologist returning to Europe from China. He boards the Trans-Siberian Express bound for Moscow, carrying a box containing the frozen remains of a primitive humanoid creature. Saxton discovered it in a cave in Sichuan and believes it may be a missing link in human evolution. As the train prepares to depart, Dr. Wells, a colleague from the Geological Society and Saxton's friendly rival, waits to board.

Trivia about Horror Express

The score marks the feature film debut of American musician John Cacavas, who would later gain fame for composing the music for the series Kojak, starring Telly Savalas.
Cushing arrived in Madrid still reeling from the recent death of his wife and told Gordon he could not make the film. Lee changed his mind by talking with him about their previous work together.
The production team used the mock-up built for Pancho Villa as the interior of every carriage. With no more room on the soundstage, the scenes for each carriage were shot back to back.
The story has many similarities to John W. Campbell's novella Who Goes There?, although neither Campbell nor his work is credited in the film.
