What Season 3 of All in the Family

The season opens with the Bunker family in their Queens home, a working-class neighborhood in New York. Archie, a World War II veteran, distrusts anyone who doesn't think like him, while Edith, his wife, responds with patience and sweetness. Their daughter Gloria, a feminist as stubborn as her father, lives with Mike, whom Archie calls Meathead, and the arguments between father-in-law and son-in-law set the pace of nearly every episode. Tensions multiply with a TV editorial against gun control, an IRS audit, a dinner with swingers that Edith accidentally invites over, and Mike's donation to McGovern's campaign instead of paying rent. Archie also clashes with his sons-in-law's wedding and with the debate over whether women can be doctors.
