What Season 5 of All in the Family

The season opens with Archie trying to hide from his family that his union has called a strike, which puts the household's income at risk. When negotiations stall, he is left with nothing to do, and Edith looks for a job at a dry cleaner's. Living together grows tense between Archie's bad mood and his wife's newfound independence. Feminism also comes into the home, with Edith joining a women's group and Gloria standing up for her beliefs against her father. Mike, for his part, announces that he doesn't want children, which throws Gloria off balance. The clashes between father-in-law and son-in-law remain the engine of the episodes.
