What Season 1 of Heartland

Amy and Lou Fleming arrive at Heartland, their grandfather Jack's old horse ranch in Alberta, after their mother's unexpected death. Amy inherits her mother's gift for calming horses and wants to keep the family dream alive by turning the ranch into a rescue center. Lou, who leaves her job in New York behind, has to decide what role she will play in the business, a property so deep in debt that any late payment could cost them everything. Jack tries to keep his granddaughters from ending up at each other's throats. In the barn, Ty, a parolee and ranch hand, shows up. Tim, the girls' father, has returned to Hudson and wants to reconnect with his family but doesn't know how.
